On 16 March 2012, the Quality Learning Foundation (QLF) in partnership with UNICEF and the Education Council, Ministry of Education organized a national meeting on “Inclusive Education, Inclusive Thailand” at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House which called for the re-affirmation of national commitment to Education for All – All for Education, MDGs (Education) and inclusive education which would contribute to the realization of the MDGs and Education for All by 2015.

The objective was to increase national awareness and involvement in Education for All- All for Education, MDGs and inclusive education particularly among pre- primary school children and disadvantaged groups. The meeting was presided over by the Minister of Education on behalf of the Prime Minister and 346 participants attended it. The participants included high- level government officials, Ministry of Education, Public Health, Social Development, Interiors, Culture representatives, educational area- directors, provincial governors and local administrators.

In the meeting, the government declared three main issues as follows;

1) Under the leadership of the Government, government and related agencies are committed to take good care of all children who are born in Thailand in terms of both nutrition and well-being, from the time women are pregnant until their children are 2 years old.

2) Under the leadership of the Government, government and related agencies are committed that new born and up to 5 year-old children will be taken care of and get access to quality schools with local governments’ support.

3) Under the leadership of the Government, government and related agencies are committed that all primary school children will receive educational/literacy rights from both public and private schools and all children will get access to state of the art education equally and equitably.
